The 17.02 per cent, an increase of 4.69 per cent over last year's performance, was enough for the state to be announced the best overall achiever in the country.
State Education Department director Ariffin Embong said although there was no state-to-state comparison, it was good to know that Terengganu had maintained its level of excellence into the seventh year.
He said a good working relationship between the department, the state government, schools and parents was the key to Terengganu's success.
"It is encouraging to note that the results in the Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science and Chinese language subjects were better than that of last year," he said at the department yesterday.
Ariffin said the best performing school in the state was Chalok Special Model School in Setiu.
He said 25 of the 28 UPSR candidates scored straight As.
